Barcelona!

This week started out so rough. There was a huge strike and on top of that I was away from Matt when his mother passed early Tuesday morning. My daily routine totally went down the drain. Little things that I could normally do were not getting done and I wouldn’t even realize it until later. Things life waking up 40 minutes late for class during a strike and having to rush over there (over an hour journey), and putting my pass-navi-go in the washer. This incident was funny, because while playing sudoku and drinking wine on the dryer, I saw the metro pass in the wash and though “hmmmm that sucks for that person”…..wait-3 seconds later and I screamed, launching myself off the dryer and for the guard at the front desk. After a full load of wash the damn pass still worked. Amazing! After my terrible week it was time for me to go to Barcelona on Thursday. I woke up at 3:45 am. I had to take a long route to the airport….thanks strike, again. Within the first hours of the trip Danny, Ashley, and myself realized that I was the sleeper, Ashley was the constant p-er, and Danny fell every 5 seconds. OH and when I was on the plane I woke up to see mountains, a white city, and the ocean. My reaction was priceless because I was expecting to see clouds. The hostel was a youth hostel, so it was so safe. We checked in and ate over 10 tapas, and had mamosas. We went shopping all day-Barcelona has THE BEST SHOPPING EVER! This city was just calling my name in terms of fashion and culture. After discovering the best market ever and being drunk of of Sangria and Gelato all day, we ate on the beach for dinner. We had nachos, and duuhhhh, more sangria. Walking on the board walk drunk was fun, but Ashley totally had to P, Danny was falling, and I was ready for bed. :) Quite the trio we are in public settings. OH and on the way home we saw the best break dancers EVER! Oh them sexy Spanish men. ;)

Note: There are crazy street people dresses in such amazing costumes. One of the giant devils I was taking a photo with decided to finger my ear with his 2 foot finger. Interesting.

Day 2: We ate a lovely free breakfast at the hostel of sour orange juice, odd meats, and limited bunns. We discovered the Gothic Quarter, shopped more, drank more, ate more gelato, and met up with Emily and Danielle at a hookah bar/restaurant by the water. SO much fun. The service was so relaxed and the fun started way late at night. No wonder why spain loves their ciestas. After din din, Ashley, Danny and myself went to an international bar (after wandering for a while and getting “Lost in the city”). We met up with our friends Mohamed and “Sheerkahn” for the Cite in Paris. After wine, Tripel Karmeliet, baileys/coffee shots, and more beer, we vanished to a random bar for more beer. There I apparently made fun of the boys with us and told them that they were drinking bitch drinks while us 3 girls were playing the part of the men in the group. With the language barrier this made the understanding of my comment a little confusing. They thought I called them bitches. :) We made it home at 4ish am…we had to take the bus. And yes on the bus I fell asleep with my arm on the window. On a huge bump I did one of those HUGE pop up moves that you do on airplanes! Funniest moment of the night: I was diverted into a couple and was about to freak out because there was no where for me to walk so I drunkenly rubbed my hands together (to create fire? idono) and yelled PANIC pretty much AT them. What a moment.

Now to make fun of Danny: In addition to falling a lot, her mother calls her “hand trouble” because she feels the need to touch EVERYTHING in the stores!

On our last day we had another free breakfast, the 5 of us girls shopped together, and I bought the most amazing maskarade mask for my senior dance. Most amazing store EVER! We ate on the steps where the boats are docked, Sea food of coarse. We then took our lovely day to the beach. Everyone napped while I found THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ROCKS that exist! Coming back on the place with a bottle of rocks was pretty funny when going back through security. ha. Pretty much the day ended with the hott hott beach, rocks, gelato, tapas, a delayed plane, and me falling asleep on the plane like normal. OH and how can I forget, in public Danny fell on all fours! :) And Danielle got goosed by a street performer with a cane. teehee. At the end of this trip we felt like dirty homeless people needing a shower fast, and our own beds. I looked like a fuzzy cat, Ashley had the reflexes like one (being that she was always dodging flying drinks), and Danny smelled like a cat. Thank you Cite boys for taking care of us during the trip. They were pure gentlemen. Where have they all run off to in the states? I mean, besides my bf, he’s da bomb!

This trip was just what I needed after such a rough week, hopefully the days to come won’t be so hard now that I am back in reality and not in my fantasy land!
